Doremil weeping for the slain

The Last War began with the sundering of the Nine. For Hesphek and Laegos—ever was there friction between them—fell into dispute and made war with each other; and the Wide World became disordered and full of tumult, and the Children wept, for many died.

Out of that war emerged new speaking peoples: Dragons, Goblins, Werewolves and Lathcats, Ettins, Boggles, Sprites, Mearths and Vampires, Baleflies. They are the Younger Children, beings crafted to wreak lament and woe, although some of those kindreds have since repented and broken free of their deathly heritage.

Doremil, one of the Kembar, tried to end the Last War through the Isencurse; and when that failed, they sacrificed themselves to accomplish the Binding. By it, the Kembar were banished from the Earth to parts unknown, able to commune with the world’s inhabitants only through the faintest of dreams and signs. This event was the closing moment of the Last War.
