The Great Chasmous Sea, sometimes called the Middle Sea or the Waters Between, is the sea separating the continents of Rhusagos and Patrinor.
Description
The Great Chasmous Sea stretches from the Paerāndas in the west to Gurmindār in the east. While it is relatively narrow, it can be difficult to cross in the summer and autumn months, due to the storms that come up from Ponbar in the south. Its waters are generally warm, and the winds that blow from it are fairly wet.
Aldronde and the White Sea are connected by the Great Chasmous Sea. The Green Sea meets with it at the Gates of Neth.
The Samael Sea is a subdivision of the Great Chasmous Sea, defined as a southern arm of the sea separating the island Phagal from Rubea and Makagos.
The Great Chasmous Sea also has several islands: Phagal in its center, the Paerāndas in the west, and Ghinor, which marks the sea’s eastern boundary.

Dun the Angler lost at sea
Near the end of the Last War, following the Isencurse, the Patrin fled from their ancestral home. That people came to Nīmlaugos and built a great fleet to cross the sea in. The Patrin then came across an island, which they named Phagal, and on it they built the port-town Aegban. From there they journeyed to the continent Patrinor, which they settled in force.
After the founding of the Patrin Empire, a lone fisherman was flung into the Great Chasmous Sea by a southern storm. Some days later he washed onto the shores of Bībūnor. Then, as swiftly as he could, he brought news of this land back to Patrinor. Many colonial ventures from Patrinor crossed the sea at this time, seeking to stake a claim on the realm in the north.

The Great Chasmous Sea is often called the Middle Sea and the Waters Between in reference to its location between the White Sea and Aldronde.
The Paternic name for the Great Chasmous Sea is Māprānor (“The Great Chasm”), though the Patrin also have been known to call it Bazru (“Our Sea”).
