The Captain’s Runes
Following the battle with Dagon, the party decided to bind the unconscious Captain Lahar in his quarters. Investigating the captain’s disrupted skinglyphs, Guantanamo discovered they were able to broadcast visual information to a remote receiver. Unfortunately, the investigation yielded even grimmer news: Guantanamo’s hasty attempt to dispel the magic earlier would soon blind him if action was not taken. Furthermore, a hidden set of glyphs in his breast had been remotely activated, threatening to end his life. Guantanamo chose to dispel these runes to save Lahar, but consequently had not the time to save his eyes, permanently blinding him.
When the captain eventually woke, he explained that he had made a desperate deal with a secretive carver and Wite named Adargin in his past, and that he did not know who’d been watching them through his eyes. He warned the party that their enemies are “many and nameless” before falling back asleep.
Arrival in Epēshu
Soon after, the ship arrived at the massive port city of Epēshu, which was far larger than any city the party had seen before. Here the party departed the vessel that had borne them across the sea, saying goodbye to its now-blind captain.
Aderyn guided the party to the Black Barghest Inn, wherein sat his contact Pahīn, who knew Aderyn as “Arzambar”. To avoid drawing unwanted attention in the new city, Aderyn used magic to disguise his face as a portly, ruddy man, instructing the party to meet him and his contact in the streets. This plan for subtlety was immediately ruined when Guantanamo pulled out 30-foot collapsible poles and attempted to walk through the crowded streets on stilts. Aderyn’s contact was irate due to the stunt but successfully led the group to a safehouse: an abandoned two-story villa in the inner city.
The Cellar Speech
In the villa’s dusty cellar, Aderyn created an illusion depicting the horrors of the coming war, showing a village being obliterated by Ettins during the Last War. He delivered a stern, impassioned speech to the group, reprimanding them for their reckless behavior and imploring them to take the apocalyptic threat of the returning Kembar seriously. At its end, he dropped his disguise, revealing himself as a Wite to the party.
There the party, being the last of the Allhammers, pledged to do whatever was in their power to free the Wide World from the Nine Gods.
El agreed to fully join their alliance but revealed she has a personal mission of her own: she’s searching for someone on the governor’s advisory body. Her reasons for this were not given.
