History
Before the Binding
It is unknown how and why Dagon became the creature he is today. Presumably he was a creation of the Pilot given his power over water, though even that is merely an educated guess.
At some point he acquired a magical conch shell, which he used to manipulate storms.
He is now corpse-life, having command over foul water, rot, poison, and fever. A reek is about him, such that any who come near become overwhelmed by the smell of the dying sea. Given these traits, it is possible that he is in league with the Shepherd.
On the Tamarnīn
Roughly a month and a half after the Return of the Kembar, Dagon detected a fragment of the Void on the White Sea. He reached it swiftly, discovering it to be aboard a dromon sailing to Patrinor. Appearing aboard the ship in a flash of lightning, he recognized the fragment as being a “dwimmercloak” in the possession of a band of fleeing Allhammers. Dagon demanded the party hand over the cloak, suggesting that it needs to drink of “unlight”; and also declared his intent to inform the Coppersmith of their location.1
Fearing this leak of information, the party coordinated a rapid assault against Dagon:
- Aderyn cast a spell to create multiple illusions of Leon charging Dagon to confuse him.
- Dagon blew into his conch horn and a lightning bolt struck Aderyn.
- Frösted threw a knife that left Dagon staggered.
- Leon entered a “berserk” rage and delivered a devastating blow with Daybreak. The strike caved in the back of Dagon’s head, crippled his right arm, and knocked the conch horn from his grasp.
- Dagon managed to retaliate, chopping deep into Leon’s arm with his sickle sword.
- Guantanamo ended the fight by casting a lightning bolt that arced across the ship and through Dagon’s sword. He vanished in a bright flash, leaving only his conch horn behind.
Whether Dagon perished in this battle or fled remains to be seen.
Known Talents and Abilities
Adversary 2 (Upgrade difficulty of all combat checks against this creature twice)
Bog Fever (A target wounded by Dagon must make a Hard Resilience check. On a failure, their Brawn characteristic is reduced by one. This effect lasts until they receive treatment: either an Average Medicine check, or magical restoration)
Death-Stench (Any character that begins their turn engaged with Dagon must make an Average Resilience check. On a success, they are disoriented for one round. On a failure, they are staggered for one round. A triumph on this check means they do not have to make the check again during this encounter)
Regeneration (At the start of his turn, Dagon automatically heals 2 wounds and 1 critical injury… perhaps there’s a way to disable this ability)
