Aderyn’s Vision

Session 6 began with Aderyn waking from a dream where he spoke with a mysterious figure wrapped in raven feathers and wearing a blank white mask. Aderyn shares his goal to protect the weak and eventually reseal the Kembar. The masked figure warns that they are being watched, and the dream ends as a massive, yellow, cat-like eye opens in the sky amidst a roll of thunder. In the waking world, the captain informed Aderyn that they were only half a day away from their final destination and had successfully lost the ship that was trailing them.

The captain then dropped to his knees in agony as the glyphs carved under his eyes began to violently smoke, crying out “They want to watch! What is there to watch?” He passed out from the intense pain, though Guantanamo managed to dispel the magic.

Dagon

The tension was interrupted when a rotting, seaweed-covered apparition appeared on the deck holding a sickle sword and a white conch shell horn. Guantanamo recognizes the entity as Dagon, an ancient servant of the Pilot who fell to darkness and madness during the First War. Dagon demanded the party hand over a “dwimmercloak”, suggesting it to be a fragment of the Void tied to the Mad One, and that the cloak needs to drink of “unlight”.

The Battle

Combat broke out as the party coordinated a rapid assault against the powerful entity:

  • Aderyn cast a spell to create multiple illusions of Leon charging Dagon to confuse him.
  • Dagon blew into his conch horn and a lightning bolt struck Aderyn.
  • Frösted threw a knife that left Dagon staggered.
  • Leon entered a “berserk” rage and delivered a devastating blow with his bloodsteel hammer. The strike caved in the back of Dagon’s head, crippled his right arm, and knocked the conch horn from his grasp.
  • Dagon managed to retaliate, chopping deep into Leon’s arm with his sickle sword.
  • Guantanamo ended the fight by casting a lightning bolt that arced across the ship and through Dagon’s sword. He vanished in a bright flash, leaving only his conch horn behind.

The Aftermath

Guantanamo eagerly grabbed the fallen conch horn and blew into it. His consciousness expanded, giving him an ethereal connection to the winds, the sea, and the creatures within it. However, a vast, god-like presence noticed and rejected him, stating, “This is not for you, elf,” before violently blasting the horn out of his hands. Babar then retrieved it.

With the battle over, the party decided to carry the unconscious captain to his quarters and bind him with rope. Thoroughly horrified by the supernatural chaos, the First Mate, Pharo, informed Aderyn that the party is no longer welcome aboard the ship once they make port.
