Alensis is the island on which the Alensic Republic was founded, the largest republic in the Wide World.
Description
The island of Alensis is roughly 90 leagues from east to west and 60 leagues from north to south. Mārosh Drakh, which means the “North Mountains”, runs along its northwest shores, and Phaendar Āner, the “Flowerwood”, covers its eastern parts.
An inlet cuts deep into Alensis’s southeast. There lies Alensis City, which is the island’s largest settlement.
Etymology
The origin of the name Alensis is unknown. It is most likely a borrowing from the language of the Westermen who dwelt on the island prior to the arrival of the Patrin. Alas, that tongue is now extinct.
