Panry Chenech was a Hord who’d immigrated to Summarch to establish himself as a merchant. Working out of Silver Swan Imports, his business, Panry secretly served as a member of the Guild, the House of the Warlock, and also maintained multiple connections with cultists of the Mad One.
The merchant was a plump, ruddy man with a joyous demeanor, though he was far more ruthless in his operations than he let on.
History
Early on in his life as a trader, Panry became friends with the Mallister banking family after they began financing some of his business ventures. This arrangement lasted for a few years. In that time, Panry became familiar with Elias, Leon, and Rodrick, the Mallister boys.
At some point the Mallisters began auditing their own affairs, which caused Panry to become afraid that they’d uncover his fraudulent practices and ties to the Guild. Seeking to remove the threat, he called in a favor from the Grandmother, having the Mallister family home raided and burned by Werewolves loyal to her. Having killed their parents, those Werewolves brought him the boys Elias and Rodrick, whom he turned over to the Grandmother as subjects for her experiments.
He also learned some magicks from his time engaging with the covens of the Mad One, becoming a proficient leech.
Wendigo Pelts
Many years later, Panry encountered the Mallister family again, hearing rumors that Leon, now an Allhammer, was looking to sell wendigo pelts with strange blood glyphs. Knowing these glyphs to be the work of the Grandmother, Panry invited Leon and his party to his office, both to discuss business and to catch up. Panry cheerfully caught up with Leon, expressing his condolences regarding his family, all in an effort to ensure his acquisition of the pelts. In the end, he succeeded, buying them from the party for a thousand coin each.
Later, the party intercepted a courier bearing a message from Rennick—though it did not mention him by name—intended for one of his operatives, which raised their suspicions. The letter read as follows:
“The rest of the pact and I have agreed to accelerate the pace of our work across Westerland. Act with haste. Time is our most fleeting and precious resource. Should you find the need to contact me, speak with Chenech of Silver Swan Imports. I shall have my usual agents positioned about the city. Do not fail me, or I will be forced to inform the Wite of your setbacks.”
With the message in hand, the Allhammers confronted Panry in one of his warehouses to question him. There, wearing a cruel smile, he recounted his treachery against Leon’s family in detail, but he refused to expose Rennick’s identity as the leader of the conspiracy nor his aims. Panry ended the conversation by flinging a bolt of lightning at Leon. The ensuing battle ended in Panry’s death.
