Horat is a large island standing beyond the Azrāken in the White Sea.

Description

The bay called the Azrāken separates Horat Isle from the mainland of Patrinor. The land is relatively dry, with mild winters and hot summers. Most towns are set along the calm eastern shore, as its south and west are often blasted by hurricanes out of Ponbar.

The whole of the island is under the dominion or influence of the city-state Hordon, which is one of the Māgosh. Some Trogmunders make their homes on Hordon, given its proximity to the White Sea and (relatively) the Home Islands.

The people of Horat, called the Horatines, have been influenced by and mingled with the indigenous peoples far more than the other branches of the Patrin. For this reason, they and their language are held to be especially divergent by their kin.

Alensis City began as a colony of Hordon, for which reason Hordon is honored as its imbāgos (“mother-city”) by the Alensic Republic. As a tradition, they send the Māgos tribute every ten years.
