The Road that Walks with the Sun, also called the Sun Road, is a major road in Patrinor that connects Drāmūz in the southwest of Leponnia to Nub-Nefer in the eastern Sārmath Land. It was one of the most strategically and economically important roads of the Patrin Empire, which built it.

It is the longest road in the world, a thousand leagues in length.

History

The Sun Road originally ran 560 leagues from Drāmūz to Cyrikon, passing by Lepon, Epēshu, Tamaron, and Bōlkhar as it closely followed the coast of western Patrinor. During its latter years, the Empire added 440 leagues to the road, stretching it into its conquered territories in Makagos, Gemenor, and the Sārmath Land.

Its construction was begun by the Patermāgor Kagdūk after the Great Fire of Cyrikon, who was inspired to construct it following his arduous and lengthy journey to Lepon. He did not live to see its completion, however, as it took some forty years to complete. Much later, the Emperor Kaetheskar commanded the road’s expansion as far as Ākat following his annexation of Makagos. In that time, it became tradition for each new Patermāgor to order a minor lengthening of the road, which eventually led to it reaching as far as Nub-Nefer.

Following the War of the Patrons and the collapse of the Patrin Empire, many parts of the road fell into disrepair. Only those thoroughfares near the great cities are still maintained. The forests and deserts have claimed the rest.

Other Names

The full name of the Sun Road in Classical Paternic is Auloseth Hoter men Lek (“The Road that Walks with the Sun”). It was often called Auloseth Lek (“The Road with the Sun”) as well.
