EventsGreat Battle
Meldutha-hoth-Mīth (more commonly Meldutha), or the Fortress Beneath the Void, was a mansion of Zhē Drūmor in Rankaros, his realm in the Far North.
It was the greatest and most calamitous by far of all his barracks, bastions, dungeons, palaces, towers, and pits, whose gates were iron, whose breath was thunder and rime. Blizzards belched out of its lofty chimneys, and filth pooled in its nethermost halls.
Zhē Drūmor used Meldutha as his base of operations for the whole of the First War until the Great Battle, when the Kembar assailed his fortress. At that time, they broke its doors and unroofed it; Zhē Drūmor hid in the uttermost pit, but they chained him and flung him into Dor Lazban, which he has never escaped.
After the battle, the Kembar abandoned Meldutha, leaving it to be forgotten.
Etymology
Meldutha-hoth-Mīth is a Classical Paternic name. It means “Fortress Beneath the Void”, being a combination of melduth (“That Which Is Not, Void”) in the locative case, the postposition hoth (“under”), and mīth (“fortified town, fort, fortress, citadel”).
