Hoarland
Hoarland is mostly sparse moors and uplands, although there are snowy forests about Termos and the dells of Mārosh Aegus, which stretches into the Far North. In that country’s center are the twin lakes Ūgaden and Gharad. The River Termos spills out of Gharad, hastening towards the Sea of Regimen; but from Ūgaden no rivers flow, and only fish can drink its brine, as the lake is polluted with salt.
The Mannish peoples known as the Hords call Hoarland their home. Their largest villages are Sjefen, Kolin, and Hvalstrond.
Etymology
Hoar is an adjective meaning “of a grayish-white color”. It is found also in the word hoarfrost.
The Paternic translation Ghazdaukos means “Snowy Land” from ghazdauk (“snowy, gray-haired”).
