The session opened in the Thūkīn Amphitheater, where tomorrow’s Games were to be held. In anticipation of the competition, the party split up into two groups: Frösted, Babar, and El; and Aderyn and Leon. The first was to purchase supplies, and the second was to investigate the amphitheater.
Shopping and Restocking
Frösted, Babar, and El went to the Marble Quarter to sell their silverware (plates, goblets, etc.) and purchase various supplies (chiefly alchemical).
- Amat’s Metalwares: The party sold their silverware to the silversmith Amat for 880 coin (130 above market price).
- Perfumery by Chasal: Searching for herbs and potions, Frösted encountered the shop of Dravidian Chasal, an Elf, alchemist, and fellow native of Rhusagos. Chasal, having traveled much in Hoarland (Frösted’s homeland), spoke with the chef in his native tongue. During their conversation, Frösted revealed himself as a member of the Cloister and as the inventor of the Frösted Flask. After this, Chasal identified him as an Allhammer. Capitalizing on the Elf’s friendliness to the Hords and on his reputation, Frösted arranged a deal wherein he sold four invisibility potions to the alchemist for 3200 coin. He spent 2300 of that amount to purchase the following:
- New flasks to replace his damaged ones
- Sulfur and lime
- 1x Bottled Thunder
- 2x Devil’s Breath
- 4x Flashbombs
- 2x Immunity Potions
- 2x Rimy Decoctions
- 3x Sharpening Oils
- 4x Smokebombs
- 6x Stamina Potions
- 4x Stinkbombs
- Additional Purchases: El purchased various metal parts, including hinges, latches, and barbed tips, in order to construct some sort of specialized gadget. The group also acquired a set of leather armor for Aderyn.
Infiltrating the Amphitheater
Meanwhile, Aderyn and Leon scouted the Thūkīn Amphitheater, hoping to learn more about the contents of this year’s Games. Disguising themselves as a guard and an inspector of the Games respectively, the two observed the interior of the theater from the stands, explored portions of the theater’s underground storage, and questioned some other guards. They learned the following:
- This year’s Games are themed around the Far South
- The theater has been magically transformed into a dense jungle environment
- Partially-hidden traps of an unknown nature have been laid periodically throughout the arena floor
- The Games will effectively be a free-for-all between the teams, with exotic creatures from the Far South (called “Pudkhars” and “Lephers” in the documents they found) being released mid-competition as additional challenges
Furthermore, in order to gain access to the inner amphitheater, Leon charmed and flirted with one of the establishment’s guards, whom he nicknamed “Buddy”. Buddy was plainly smitten with Leon, and became overjoyed when Leon implied they could link up after his shift. If Buddy ever learns the truth about that handsomest of Games inspectors, he will surely be furious.
