Garnatos
Garnatos is a region in the southeast of Rhusagos near Patrinor.
Description
The eastern country Garnatos, along with the Mountain Wall, shields the rest of Rhusagos (the Green Sea in particular) from Aldronde the Deepest’s bitter winds, which are ever wintry and dry. The weather there is bad all year, and it is populated mostly by hardy barbarians called Keats, though there are some colonies of Makagos and Gemenor in its more temperate south.
Garnatos’s midlands are stony and bare-faced. There, Mount Ida, snow-capped, about it many lesser heights, stands out above the worst of the winds. In the region between Mount Ida and Gurmindār is Drāgīnor, the Wolfenland.
Etymology
Garnatos is a Classical Paternic name meaning “Bleak Land” (garnat + -(g)os).
