Tethros is the inhabited, civilized world, as opposed to the barbaric wild. The term Tethros is different from Nīmlad, which refers to the world as a physical whole.
The word itself is the imperfective participle of tethus, thus (“to dwell”), so in a literal sense it means “entity being dwelt in”.
