Gram and Drear are Rennick’s twin swords. Made of bloodsteel, their blades are damasked with serpent-forms in red and gold. They come with black sheaths of an unknown metal (possibly meteoric iron), light and strong, adorned with fiery stones. Many expert enchantments have been laid on them, allowing them to swap between different magical modes upon a word of command.

Etymology

Gram is an Old English word meaning “wroth, angry, hostile”.

While drear in modern English means “gloomy”, here it’s based on the word’s Old English ancestor drēor “spilt blood, gore”.
